French leading specialist in the design and manufacture of technical alarms for professional ships, MARINELEC Technologies generates almost 40% of its sales from exports. On the borders of Europe and at the gateway to Asia, Turkey is one of the markets in which the Breton manufacturer is very active. With the construction of the Neoline cargo ship and numerous hybrid projects, the Turkish naval industry is now taking part in the emerging market for low-carbon ships. A booming sector that could also benefit MARINELEC Technologies, which relies on its network of local partners, including its long-standing partner Betex. Interview with Safa YARDIMOGLU, Managing Director.

Could you tell us few words about BETEX ?

Betex is an engineering company established in 2001 and located in Tuzla-Istanbul, where major shipyards in Turkey located. We supply system solutions for shipyards and ship owners, as automation, communication, and safety systems.

How have you built up your partnership with MARINELEC over the past 15 years ?

We met with Marinelec during an exhibition. We were hoping to find a good partner for fire detection systems. After using in several projects, we understood Marinelec was a top-quality product with very good service support. Also it was a bonus for us that Marinelec also has other product ranges we could promote in our market.

How do you work together on a day-to-day basis ?

We are very close to each other. In general, we don’t need so much support from Marinelec thanks to their “almost perfect” documentation. But when we need, they are always ready to support us. It is really impressive.
